Frits van Dyk returned the top score on Saturday, 40 individual stableford points, to win the Adamantia High School Golf Fundraiser. Leon Blom was the runner up on 39 points.
Four players followed on 38 points – Kevin Collings, Nico Jacobs, Shane Arthur and John Callender-Easby.

Saturday also saw the final match in the 2015 Bob Klemp Shield, the Club Matchplay Championships, contested for by the top 16 players in the Strokeplay Championships. Defending champion Nico Jacobs enjoyed a comfortable five and four win against Stiaan Hugo. In doing so he set a KGC record by winning three consecutive strokeplay championships followed by three consecutive matchplay championships.

Friday’s events were cut short by lightning and rain, a total of 17mm measured.

On Thursday afternoon Cedric van der Ross posted 24 points for an outright win in KWV Powerplay Niner. A six pointer on the nominated par five 12th assisted. A count out, that included an eight pointer on stroke one, saw Wade King the runner up on 21 points. Third placed Flexx Rantoa, on the same score, enjoyed a six pointer on the 13th. Outside of the prize winners Mali Manana gained a ticket in the draw with a six pointer on the 14th.

On Wednesday afternoon Bennie Claasen carded a gross 77 for 39 points and a win on the count out to take first place in the Darsha Insurance Brokers sponsored monthly competition. Losing that count out and the runner up was Garth Lee. Mike Vigne reversed a modest start with a one over par gross 37 on the home nine to post 38 points and to take third place.

The top three players in Tuesday’s Cleveland Golf sponsored Super Six Tournament were Garth Lee (15), Francois Schwartz (12) and Andre Thuysma (12).


The coming week the KGC offers the Cleveland Golf Super Six Tournament on Tuesday, the Halfway House Hotel BBS on Wednesday, the under 23 Spur Challenge and the KWV Powerplay Niner on Thursday and the Sun Flamingo Niner plus the CTCS draw on Friday. On Saturday it is the 2015 Husqvarna Kimberley Amateur Open played over 36 holes. The format is an IPS, the draw will be seeded by handicap. The entry fee of R250 includes the halfway house meal between 18’s. It will be followed by a braai and DJ Garth. On Sunday it is the final round of the 2015 Sealing Solutions League.

Molinaris 10, the Playas 9 - the results of a Sealings Solution League catch up game Sunday morning saw the former move towards the top of the log in the A league, with just one round to go.

Allen Grootboom returned a net 66 for 42 individual stableford points to win the Club Competition on Saturday. Ivan Coetzee was second on 40 points. A count out on 39 points placed Neil Langley third and Johan Oosthuizen fourth.

In the Saturday Senior outing Francois Maritz, playing the pivot, came first with Don Fielding on 46 betterball points and second with Daan Fourie on 42 points. Machiel Cronje and Pat Ansley were third on 41 points on the age count out. The outing included, too, the Ladies section and mixed betterballs in which the leading competitors were presented with the Cleopatra Trophy. It was Hannes Le Roux and Susan Ferreira who posted a winning 40 points.
Ivan Coetzee returned the top score, 20 points, in the Sun Flamingo Niner Friday afternoon. Shane Arthur was second on 19 points. Alan Meyer, Gavin Oliver and Bernie Turton were the final three prize winners, each on 18 points.

Thursday’s Petra Diamonds Golf Day, with a field of 160 golfers, brought a new dynamic to corporate occasions. The format, played from a scramble drive, was a fourball alliance with two scores to count. Ultimately it was Team Trentyre who was first on the day on 111 points. A count out on 107 points deemed Workwear Depot second and Finsch Diamond Mine third. Team Multotech Manufacturing was fourth on 105 points and Team Brinks Global was fifth on 104 points on a count out.

All historical KGC stableford records, individual and betterball, were shattered in the final round of the Konica Minolta Business League on Wednesday afternoon. The covey in which it all happened included OJ Maimane and Duece Leburu (Team OJM Consultants) and Tinus and Hermus Venter (Team KGC). And, it was Deuce Leburu who delivered the El Nino like devastation. Playing off a 15, and never having broken the 80 barrier, he unleashed a personal best 74 gross (36, 38) - a net 59 - for a sum total 49 individual stableford points. In the team event his partner OJ Maimane still managed to add an additional four points, a full return therefore, of 53 betterball points.
In the IPS for the day Deuce Leburu was first, with Kevin Collings second on 41 points and Barend Burger third on 39 points.
In the team event, the BBS, OJM Consultants were first with Burgers Brokers second on 45 points.
In the overall 2015 individual results OJ Maimane topped the table on 320 points, with Barend Burger second on 318 and Tinus Venter third on 317.
In the overall team results for 2015 OJM Consultants were the leading business on an aggregate 394 points, Burger Brokers second on 392 points, Darsha Insurance Brokers third on 382 points and the Halfway House Hotel fourth on 381 points.

Young Chante de Lange was crowned both the 2015 Northern Cape Ladies Open Champion and the Northern Cape Junior Champion after 36 holes at the Sishen Golf Club last Saturday, her gross score 156. Magdel du Toit (171) claimed the Silver Division, Magda van Jaarsveld (197) the Bronze Division and Mica Poonawassy (211) the Copper Division. The Best Net Overall was won by Magdel du Toit on 143 while the Junior Best Net Overall was won by Mica Poonawassy on 147. Northern Cape Prime Time (over 45 years) played over 18 holes was won by Linda Steenkamp.    

This week the KGC offers the Cleveland Golf Super Six Tournament on Tuesday, the Darsha Insurance Brokers IPS on Wednesday, the under 23 Spur Challenge and KWV Powerplay Niner on Thursday and finally the Sun Flamingo Niner and CTCS draw on Friday. On Saturday it is the Adamantia High School Golf Fundraiser.

Sunday’s Sealing Solutions League saw Molinari’s record the biggest gain in the A League, 17 points. Similarly Pinseekers recorded the biggest gain in the B League, also 17 points.
With just one round to go Happy Hookers and the Golf Shop hold a slender lead in the A League. However, there remains a catch up game outstanding by the Playas and Molinari’s, the results of which might well affect the log table.
C-PAC comfortably head the B league, with Kimberley Motoparts second.  

Alan Doherty returned a net 68 to win the November Monthly Medal sponsored by the Wesley Methodist Church on Saturday. Christo Swanepoel and Tinus Venter were first and second in the A division, each on net 69. While Quinton Schaefer and Pieter van Niekerk were first and second in the B division, each on net 70. Andries Kori carded the best gross on the day, a three under par 69. 
 
Friday’s 2015 NC Construction Golf Day format was a Fourball American Scramble (Medal Net). This annual tournament included a field of some 180 players representing over 40 teams. OJ Maimane, Thuso Dichaba, Deuce and Kabello Leburu, under the banner OJM Construction, broke the magical 50 barrier in returning a net 49.4 to win the 26th anniversary of the event. Team RMS, that included Hendrick Britz, Jan van der Walt, Charl Kruger and Donavan de Soussa, was the the runner up on 50.6. CAT Security, represented by Dow Jacobs, Johan, Joanie and Jolene Herselman, was third on 50.8 points. In all the prizes went down to 17th position.

A birdie three for a powerplay eight pointer on the nominated 9th propelled Evan Painting to the front of the field in Thursday’s KWV Powerplay Niner. Nico Ross posted a powerplay six pointer on the 16th for an aggregate 21 points and second place. Dave Wilson, following a powerplay six pointer on the 9th, was third on 20 points. The Roodeberg draw was not underservedly won by OJ Maimane who comfortably recorded the highest number of powerplay successes through the past six weeks.

Mike Vigne posted 38 individual stableford points to take first place in the Leon’s House of Liquor monthly competition on Wednesday. Johan Herselman was the runner up, two points behind. The final prize went to Ronnie Engelbrecht on 35 points.

This week the KGC offers the Cleveland Golf Super Six Tournament on Tuesday. On Wednesday it is the Konica Minolta Business League. On Thursday the course will be closed to the Petra Diamonds Golf Day. On Friday the APK hold their golf fundraiser.
On Saturday the KGC offers an IPS and the NC Seniors and the Ladies play for the Cleopatra Cup.
