The majority of Saturday’s golfers received more than one good soaking
on the day. Eddie Barkhuizen and Willie Gerber, first off, first in and around
the course in three and a half hours, were only required to vacate the front
patio. Their 46 betterball stableford points remained the leading score
throughout the competition. Susan Ferreira and Charles Malherbe, next in, but,
recipients of the first shower, were the runners up on 45 points. Keanan Aysen
and Shane Boughan were third on 44 points. For the day the total registered
golfers 99, the total registered rain 8 mm.
Henk Visser carded a gross 35 for 20 points and an outright win in
Friday’s Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner. Stiaan Hugo, who carded a level
par 36, was second on 19 points on a count out from third placed Luchmen
Poonawassy. Adrian McLaren was fourth on 18 points in a count out from Andries
Kori, the latter also carded a level par gross 36.
Mali Manana returned 18 points for a clear win in the KWV Niner
Thursday. There were three players on 16 points, the count out determined Ian
Crozier second and Braam Botes third.
Wednesdays IPS Jackpot entry produced unit value vouchers of R100 each.
The three sixes saw Siewert Wiid win the opening six on 17 points, Gary
Hepburne claim the second six on 14 and Pieter Botes take the final six on
16. Siewert Wiid also won the outward
nine on 22 points with Pieter Botes and Bennie Claasen sharing the inward nine
on 21 points each.
This week the KGC offers the Leon’s House of Liquor IPS Wednesday
followed by the Spur Junior Challenge and the KWV Niner Thursday. On Friday, by
invitation, it is the annual Mercedes Benz Trophy. On Saturday it is the annual
Mickey and Friends Golf Fundraiser.
