Weekly Newsletter 13 - 19 July 2015

On Sunday round one of the Sealing Solutions League, singles matchplay, saw young Darian Fortune cause the upset of the day in beating the current KGC number one player Andries Kori. His team, Pretenders, also enjoyed a 15 point gain, the best in the A League. Not far behind were the Playas who earned a 14.5 points, this against a normally invincible Golf Shop.
In the B League Sultans of Swing recorded a 14.5 points gain with the Crackers recording a 13.5 pints gain.

Returning home with the final card from the final covey Andre Williams produced the wining score in Saturday’s St. Albans Church Golf Fundraiser – 41 individual stableford points. A count out on 40 points placed Frans Smith second and Lionel Jacobs third. Dave Wilson was fouth on 39 points with Brenton Marthinus the final prize winner on 38 points.

Jody van Wyk posted a gross 38 for 21 points to take the Friday Sun Flamingo Meat and Slots Niner. A count out on 20 points saw Adrian McLaren second and Fareez Alexander third. Similarly a count out on 19 points saw Susan Alexander fourth and Mpho Mogale fifth. 

It was a Big Six that again gave the advantage to first and second place in Thursday’s KWV PowerPlay Niner in which Dave Wilson returned 23 points and Dave Benade returned 19 points. Peter Salo was third on 17 points.  

Shane Arthur posted 40 individual stableford points to win the Darsha Insurance Brokers Wednesday Competition. Stan de Beer, who carded a one under par gross 71, was second on 39 points. A count out on 38 points saw Pieter Bergh take third prize.

A count out was required for the Cleveland Super Six Golf Day Tuesday evening. Peter Salo was first, Garth Lee was second. Both players returned 14 points. Francois Schwartz was third on 13 points.

This week the KGC offers the Cleveland Golf Super Six Tournament on Tuesday, the Annabell’s Restaurant BBS on Wednesday and the Spur Junior Challenge and the KWV PowerPlay Niner on Thursday. On Friday it is the Under 21 Griqua Rugby Golf Day. On Saturday it is round two of the Pennypinchers Winter Meat Challenge.
  
This month the Trail Fee for Golf Car Users will be invoiced. The annual fee R900 will be prorated at R450 for the period July through to December 2015.


Please diarize Club Night - Friday 31 July 2015 – on which the occasion will commence with the Sun Flamingo Niner, followed by evening braai, bingo, dominoes and entertainment for the family and kids. The details are to follow.
