Susan Alexander, alone on 20 points, topped the
Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner Fridayevening.
Tim Cloete and Donald Whitebooi were second and
third respectively, each on 19 points. Keanan Aysen (17) and Carlo
Alexander (16) were fourth and fifth.

Spur Junior
Challenge:
|
|
The final round of the third 18 Hole Spur Junior
Challenge was played Thursday morning. Winner by a single stableford
points was Deon van Niekerk on an aggregate 109 points with 33, 36, and
40 points respectively.
Hermus Venter was second on 108 with Janneman Vorster third on 101 points.
In the medal section Hermus Venter led the field by
five shots on an aggregate 230 with 77, 76 and 77 respectively. Keanan
Aysen was the runner up on 235 with Christiaan Voight third on 247.

Wednesday
Competitions:
On Wednesday Gavin Schaffer enjoyed a comfortable
win in posting 42 individual stableford points in the Leons House of
Liquor IPS. Charles Malherbe was second on 38 points, Wikus Kok third
on 35 points.

Niner:

Nico Ross and Lunt Esterhuizen were the successful Diamond Niner
players Thursday evening.

Nomads
and Mickey and Friends:
150 golfers teed on Saturday, the morning field led by
the 60 Nomads players. In the Members Monthly Medal slippery winter putts
did not deter Trevor de Reuck. He easily returned the best net overall, a
66, to take the July Medal, the Rhodes Mug and the top prize sponsored by
Mickey and Friends. Keanan Aysen won best net A division on 71. He also
carded the best gross on the day, a 73. Johnny Cloete was the runner up
on 73. Lennie Allen won best net B division on 68, Hugh McGibbon the
runner up on 69.
Butler’s:
Butler’s, under Mike and Daniel Williams, renowned for
fine dining in the City have taken up the challenge of the Golfers Inn to
present a “Golfers Fare” of note.
Food and Beverage Controller
Armandt van der Merwe(right), not only qualified in Hospitality
Management, but, after a spell at Champagne Sports Resorts specifically
understands a golfer’s needs. Add to that that he is a Member of the
Club. Thomas Kamanga(second from left) is your “in house” host and a very
reasonably priced, well- chosen menu backed by a meal of the day is
currently on offer. Exciting culinary times for the KGC, please give them

Penny Pinchers Winter Meat Challenge
Women’s Golf:
This year Norma Potgieter celebrates her 41st year of
Membership at the KGC. Twenty years of this time has been spent in
serving the interests of Women’s Golf, both local and national.
Initially the KGC Ladies Captain from 1992 to 1997 she then served
on the FS & NC Ladies Golf Union becoming President and
Executive Committee Member of Women's Golf South Africa. A position she
regained this year. She also served as President of SA Senior Women's
Golf in 1998 and 2003. She successfully sat the R&A Rules exam and
as a Rules Official is called upon to officiate for major
tournaments.
