Kimberley Golf Club Report 3 August 2014
After 54 holes in the FS & NC Inter Club Championships at Bloemfontein at the weekend the KGC Junior Golf Team qualified to play at the SA Junior Inter Club Championships to be played at Mossel Bay in mid-September. Representing the KGC were Keanan Aysen, Dean Schonegevel, Hermus Venter and Christiaan Voight.

Stefan Le Roux returned a net 68 and the better count out to win Best Net Overall in Saturday’s Rhodes Monthly Medal. Dowtie Jardine, who lost that count out, was awarded Best Net B Division. They will play off for the August Rhodes Mug. Christo Swanepoel returned a net 70 for Best Net A Division with Stiaan Hugo the runner up on net 72. Faried Richards was the runner up in the B Division on net 72. Stiaan Hugo was also accorded Best Gross on the day for his 74, although visiting Pro, Doug McGuigan, did return a six under par 66 in a round that included a drop on the first and seven birdies.

In the Ladies Section Susan Alexander required just 10 putts in her opening nine and 26 putts through 18 holes to comfortably confound the greens and all opposition for a net 71, a win in the Silver Division and a win the Putting Competition.  Norma Potgieter claimed the Bronze Division on net 73.    

Bobo Mentor returned a personal best gross 39 for 25 individual stableford points to take the Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner on Friday. Mpho Mogale was second on 21 points. Three players followed on 19 points; Wade King, Peter Mills and Cedric van der Ross.

Trevor Kok, page 4, name number 45, by his absence missed out on R1 350 in the Friday evening CTCS snowball draw. 

Dave Wilson (24), Ant Crozier (22) and Shaun Linda (18) were the Thursday KWV Niner winners.

Joshua Edwards and Brandon Ralph each returned 18 individual stableford points in the Thursday Spur Junior Challenge, the top score on the day. Hermus Venter returned the best medal, a gross 40. 

Harry Welham and a Gary Hepburn posted 46 betterball points to take the Wednesday BBS on a Glaswegian inspired count out. Dalina Schoeman and Joanie Herselman were the runners up in that count out. Third placed Willie Delport and Johan Herselman posted 45 points.  

The two outstanding Sealing Solutions League Matches were completed through the week. In the first Lenong pipped MVD Kalahari one up in both matches to earn 16 points. In the second Prentenders secured a win and a half against C-PAC, the teams earning 12 and 4 points respectively.

This week the Club offers the Leon’s House of Liquor IPS Wednesday, the Spur Junior Challenge and KWV Diamond Niner on Thursday and the Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner together with the CTCS snowball draw on Friday. At the weekend the Ladies Section host the National Women’s Golf Day on Saturday, while the Seniors hold their monthly outing on Saturday and host the home leg of the Blacklaws Trophy on Sunday.
