Weekly Newsletter 15- 21 June 2015

Singles matchplay Sunday morning marked the last round of the first half of the Sealing Solutions League. The final standings had the Golf Shop and Sealing Solutions first and second in the A League with the Playas and the Pretenders first and second in the B league.
These four teams will be joined by Molinari’s, Happy Hookers and Lenong to contend for the 2015 A League Title through the second half of the League. While Dixon Batteries, CPAC, Crackers, Sultans of Swing, Pinseekers, Kimberley Moto Parts and Coastal Hire will compete for the 2015 B League Title.

Saturday’s Kimberley Golf Club Sanlam Cancer Challenge saw Deon Kruis (39 points),
Shane Arthur (39 points) and Hannes Herselman (36 points) win the respective A, B and C divisions in the Mens Section. While in the Ladies section it was Helena Janse (30 points), Susan Alexander (33 points) and Joanie Herselman (31 points) who respectively won the A, B and C divisions. All the winners progress through to the Regional Final to be played on 15 August, also at the Kimberley Golf Club.

Four players returned a wining 20 individual stableford points in Friday’s Sun Flamingo Meat and Slots Niner. The count out deemed Hannes Le Roux first, Luchmen Poonawassy second, Leon van Wyk third and Francois Schwartz fourth. The final prize was won by Nevillie Alexander on 19 points on a three way count out.

Braam Botes enjoyed a convicing win in the Thursday KWV Niner, his 21 points three clear of the field. Fred Wyngaardt was second on 18 points with Dave Benade third on 17 points.

Wikus Kok returned 37 individual stableford points to win the Darsha Insurance Brokers monthly competition on Wednesday. Fred Wyngaardt was second on 36 points with young Danie Liebenberg thrd on 34 points.   

First up on the KGC calendar this week is Tuesday’s introduction of Super Six Golf as the Kimberley Golf Club takes the lead in providing competitive opportunities to match limited time available – a world-wide trend. This weekly six hole tournament starting at 15h00 will be sponsored by the Golf Shop, the entry fee R70.
On Wednesday Annabell’s sponsor their monthly Betterball stableford. On Thursday it is the KWV Niner and the Spur Junior Challenge. On Friday it is the annual Sun Flamingo Golf Day. A betterball based on mystery scoring, a popular format, it has R15 000 worth of prizes. The entry fee is R250 per player. On Saturday it is round one of the PennyPinchers Winter Meat Challenge. A three round IPS with R9 000 worth of prizes the second and third rounds are scheduled for the last Saturday in June and the last Saturday in August.
