sponsored Rhodes Monthly Medal. Dries Mostert won the A division on net 68 with
Dean Schonegevel the runner up on net 70. Four players returned net 71 in the B
division. The count out deemed Cedric Bredenkamp first and Andre Williams
second. Stiaan Hugo carded the best
gross of the day, a level par 72.
Weston Potgieter
again underlined his extraordinary sporting talent. Little more than a school
holiday golfer he carded 75, 75 for an aggregate 150 through 36 holes on
Saturday to win the under 23 Prentice Memorial Invitation. Pretoria based Keanan
Aysen was second on 152 with Hermus Venter third, one shot back.
Young Joshua Edwards,
who carded a personal best two under par 70 on Tuesday, returned a gross 34
Friday afternoon to take the Sun Flamingo Niner on 21 points. Pierre Wasserman
and Peter Salo were second and third on 20 points with Andries Kori and Tinus
Venter fourth and fifth on 18 points.

compounded by a successful six point PowerPlay option at the 17th
saw Machiel Cronje return an unchallenged 25 points in Thursday’s KWV PowerPlay
Niner.
Two players followed
on 21 points. And, it was a PowerPlay six pointer that gave Mali Manana the
benefit in the count out. Losing that count out and taking third place was OJ
Maimane who posted a very creditable gross 37.
Ramon Barlow
comfortably collected the Cabernet Sauvignon HOTSHOT of the day. His explosive
exit from the greenside bunker of the 18th whipped through the open
door of the Main Bar – minus damage and minus two points - that hole his
PowerPlay option.
The Thursday
competitors who so far qualify for automatic entry to the KWV Roodeberg &
Rump draw through their six pointers are Braam Botes, OJ Maimane, Dave Benade,
Machiel Cronje, Mali Manana, Henk Visser and Dave Wilson.
Dries du Plessis
returned 41 individual stableford points to walk away with the Leons House of
Liquor Competition played on Wednesday. Lennie Allen was second on 36 on a
count out from third placed Barend Burger.

Super Six Golf Tournament sponsored by the Golf Shop once again attracted a
busy entry - 43 players. Deon Kruis returned the top score, 14 points. A count
out on 13 points saw Fred Wyngaardt second and Graham Hauman third. The latter
earned his very first formal golf prize.
By tradition the
first Tuesday in July of each year signals the opening of bookings for the
annual Barney Barnato Golf Festival. This year the dates of the event are
Saturday 24th October through to Saturday 31 October. Also on offer
this Tuesday is the Super Six Golf Tournament sponsored by the Golf Shop. The
Konica Minolta Business League follows on Wednesday. On Thursday it is the KWV
PowerPlay Niner. On Friday it is the Brocor Golf Day. The Senior President
plays host to Saturdays Club Competition, a betterball stableford.
