SATURDAY GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL GOLF FUNDRAISER
A comfortable course set up saw the top eight players score 41 individual stableford points or more in Saturday’s annual Girls High School Golf Fundraiser. Dave Wilson, spoilt by home advantage, was first on 44 points. A count out on 42 points saw Dickey Thomas second and Donald Whitebooi third. The final prizes went to Bonolo Modise and Luchmen Poonawassy, both on 41 points.
In the Ladies Bogey competition Dalina Schoeman was first and Noreen Anne Crozier second.
In the Seniors event, the not so old versus the not so young, it was experience that prevailed.
FRIDAY VODACOM GOLF DAY
On Friday afternoon Mpho Mogale and Mali Manana, on 49 points, pipped the field of 76 betterballs by a single point to claim the 2015 Vodacom Golf Day. Kennedy Mosiapoa and Thabang Sibhono were second on 48 points. Burger Schoeman and Jacques Kriek posted 47 points and a winning count out to take third place. OJ Maimane and Deuce Leburu were fourth, also on 47 points. Five 46 pointers followed, Marvin Torres and Jody van Wyk the best in the count out for fifth place. In all the prizes paid down to 10th position. The tournament from start to finish lived up to its reputation as the top corporate occasion at the KGC.
THURSDAY KWV POWERPLAY NINER
The top three players in Thursdays KWV Powerplay Niner were OJ Maimane (23), Luchmen Poonawasy (22) and Deuce Leburu (21). All three players recorded a Big Six at their nominated holes. Machiel Cronje was the only player outside of the prize winners to do likewise.
WEDNESDAY KONICA MINOLTS BUSINESS LEAGUE
Lionel Jacobs and Mario Dirkse posted 48 betterball points to claim first place in the team event in Wednesday’s Konica Minolta Business League. Barend Burger and Bennie Claasen were second on 47 points and Deuce Leburu and OJ Maimane third on 46 points.
In the individual section it was Lionel Jacobs first on 41 points, Bennie Claasen second on 40 points and Mike Vigne third on 38 points.
TUESDAY CLEVELAND SUPER SIX TOURNAMENT
In Tuesday’s Cleveland Golf sponsored Super Six Tournament Wayne Petersen was first on 14 points, Francois Schwartz second on 13 points and Alan Meyers third on 12 points.
THE COMING WEEK
This week the KGC hosts the Cleveland Super Six Tournament on Tuesday and the Darsha IPS on Wednesday. Pending confirmation of a corporate golf day Thursday, the KWV Powerplay Niner and the Under 23 Spur Challenge will otherwise be offered. On Friday the Club will host the Sun Flamingo Niner, the last event before the start of the 2015 CASTLE LITE BARNEY BARNATO. Saturday’s opening competition is, once again, sponsored by Sun Flamingo. The Sunday is sponsored by Sol Plaatje Municipality.
