Weekly Newsletter 13 - 17 May 2015

Two Sight in Sport Individual Matchplay (Oppenheimer) games were played Sunday afternoon with both matches finally decided on the 19th. Ultimately Susan Alexander saw off Keith Brown and Brenton Marthinus saw off Neville Alexander.

A Sunday Sealing Solutions League fixture had the Golf Shop play the Crackers. The former claimed both matches and 3 bonus points to register total of 19 points. The Crackers gained just 3 bonus points.

In a Mellins i Style Betterball Matchplay (Blacklaws) game played Saturday Ant and Wedge Crozier continued their bid for the 2015 title by when they knocked out Bernie Bennett and Luchmen Poonawassy.

On Saturday Pieter Botes underlined his return to golf with a level par 72 and an emphatic 43 individual stableford points to win the “Wash Day Angels” sponsored Competition. Second placed Keith Brown was hardly less impressive. He returned a four under par gross 68 and 42 individual stableford points. Charles Malherbe was third on 39 points with Johan Herselman and William Orton fourth and fifth on 38 points each.

Flexx Rantoa posted 22 points to take the Sun Flamingo Meat and Slots Niner on Friday evening. Peter Mills (21), OJ Maimane (20), Henk Visser (19) and Andries Kori (18) were the remaining prize winners.

OJ Maimane claimed the KWV Niner on 22 points on Thursday evening. Machiel Cronje was second on 20 with Ramon Barlow third on 19 points.

On WednesdayTeam Burger Brokers, represented by Barend Burger and Gavin Schafer, posted a winning 46 betterball points to take the May 2015 Konica Minolta Business League outing. In a tight game within the same covey the Halfway House Hotel, represented by Lennie Allen and John Lankester, took the count out to claim second spot from Annabell’s Restaurant, represented by Mike Vigne and Shane Schonegevel. Both betterballs returned 45 points. The individual section was won by Pieter Bergh from GW Rugby on 41 points. Barend Burger was the runner up on 40 points with Neil Steyn third on 38 points.

In their first match tomorrow the NC Country District Team takes on Kwazulu Natal at the 2015 IPT on the ERPM layout, a tough game for their opening encounter. The tournament is over five days ending Friday evening.
This week the KGC hosts the Darsha IPS on Wedneday, the Spur Junior Challenge and the KWV Niner on Thursday. On Friday there is the FNB sponsored Motor Industry. A betterball stableford the entry fee is R200 per player and tee off times are between 11h54 and12h40. Bookings can be made through the Golf Shop or the Club. A Sun Flamingo Niner follows mid - afternoon. On Saturday it is a betterball stableford and an opportunity for Mellins i Style matches to be played. It is also the NC Senior Socety May outing. On Sunday it is the Sealing Solutions League and the NC Senior Society will take on their Free Sate counterparts in the annual Blacklaws away match.
