Weekly Newsletter 4 -10 May 2015

On Sunday afternoon Helena Janse secured her fifth consecutive Ladies Championship Title. She claimed the Haarhoff Trophy as the winner and the Bebington Trophy as the winner of the Silver Division.
Susan Ferreira won the Bronze Division with Dalina Schoeman the runner up. Noreen Anne Crozier won the Copper Division.  Jacky Schoeman won the Junior Trophy with recognition also going to Lane Weenink and Mika Poonawassy. Helen Janse also claimed the Tandy Cup for the best net overall. She also claimed best net Saturday while Dalina Schoeman took best net Sunday.
Despite rain interrupted play Quinton Schaefer posted a no nonsense 42 individual stableford points to win the FNB sponsored Saturday Competition. Stefan Le Roux was the runner up on 41 points. Yusuf Kana was third on 39 points with Willie Gerber fourth on 38 points. The final prizes went to Luchmen Poonawassy and Rudi Kruger, both on 37 points.
Eddie Barkhuizen enjoyed a clear win in the Friday Flamingo Sun Niner, his score 21 points. Neville Alexander, Leon van Wyk and Ronnie Engelbrecht all followed on 19 points. Theo Fourie was the final prize winner on 18 points.
Nico Nico Ross (18), Thuso Dichaba (17) and Braam Botes (17) were the Thursday KWV Niner Winners.
In an update in the Club Matchplay Championships, the Bob Klemp Shield, Andries Kori was the first player to advance through to the quarter finals in beating Steve Turner four and three. Other matches in the week included Club Champion Nico Jacobs beating Tinus Venter by a similar margin, Nico Ross finishing five and four up against Eddie Barkhuizen and finally wisdom defying age when the oldest competitor, Super Senior Machiel Cronje, saw off the youngest competitor, Joshua Edwards, two and one on Saturday afternoon.
Gavin Schafer posted 38 points and 23 on the count out to take the Leons House of Liquor IPS on Wednesday. Lionel Jacobs was the runner up on
the same score, but, with 19 on the count out. Hannes van Zyl was third on 36 points.      
This week the KGC will host the Konica Minolta Business League on Wednesday, the Spur Junior Challenge and KWV Niner on Thursday and the Flamingo Sun Niner and CTCS draw on Friday. The Club will host the Saturday competition.
