Rugar Distributors, the Golf Shop and JNKW Engineering enjoyed the best gains in Sunday’s A League Sealing Solutions League outing. Similarly it was Molinari’s, Sealing Solutions and C Pac who gained the most points in the B League. With just one match to go Rugar Distributors and Sealing Solutions lead the respective leagues.

Saturday highlights included two holes in one. The Seniors’ president, Machiel Cronje,
struck a towering eight iron (so it was described) over the left front bunker guarding the 11th green to post the first on the day, and, the first in a long golfing career. Not to be outdone young Darian Fortune, a Junior section representative, replied by striking a perfect nine iron at the par three 14th. This was also his first hole in one.
On the remaining 17 holes Cronje added another 36 points to his four at the 11th to return a winning 40 points in the Girls High School annual golf fundraiser. This was on a count out from Donathon Jennings, the runner up on the day. OJ Maimane was third on 39 points. Trevor de Reuck and Luchmen Poonawassy were fourth and fifth on 38 points.

On Friday 192 players teed up in the annual Vodacom Golf Day. Despite modest individual returns some extraordinary dovetailing earned Bernie Bennett and Luchmen Poonawassy 48 betterball points and first place in the event. Three betterballs followed on 47 points; Peter Mills and Eldrid Turton, Peter Salo and Virgil Fredericks and Derek Dobson and Terence van Heerden.
A further three betterballs returned 46 points; OJ Maimane and Kebelo Leburu, Marvin Torres and Brian Lowden and Neil Langley and Shane Arthur.

Lenong’s Vice Captain, Donald  Hlakudi, lived up to his new station on Thursday afternoon to claim his first KWV Niner, his score 18 points. Dave Benade and Adrian McLaren were second and third, each on 17 points.  

Barries van Zyl posted 39 individual stableford points to claim the Darsha Insurance Brokers monthly tournament on Wednesday. This was on a count out from Dries du Plessis the runner up.
John Lankaster, reunited with his clubs, was third on 38 points on a count out from Kevin Collings.


This week it is the Annabell’s betterball stableford on Wednesday. On Thursday it is the annual Agri Securitas Golf Day. On Friday the course is closed for the final course preparations re the 2014 Castle Lite Barney Barnato. A celebratory event it marks the 25th staging of the tournament which was first held in 1990. Commencing this Saturday it will run for eight days through to the following Saturday.
