Despite the NC Seniors home course advantage the visiting Free State Seniors once again returned home on Sunday afternoon with the Blacklaws Trophy comfortably in hand. In all 48 Senior players participated.

In a KGC Junior Team selection bid involving 8 young players through 36 holes Saturday and a further 18 holes Sunday morning Dean Schonegel (236), Joshua Edwards (246), Hermus Venter (247) and Christiaan Voight (250) emerged as the top four players. The KGC team will compete in the Inter Club Junior Championships in Mossel Bay on 13th and 14th September. Junior Club Champion and  the top seed, Keenan Aysen  is unable to participate through exam interference.

Bernie Bennett and Luchmen Poonawassy returned the winning score, 47 betterball points, to take the 2014 National Women’s Day Golf Tournament hosted by the Ladies Section of the KGC.
Kariem Anderson and Darian Fortune were the runners up on 46 points on a count out from third placed Neville Alexander and Jacky Schoeman. Three betterballs returned 45 points; Pieter Botes and William Orton, Daan Fourie and Hugh McGibbon and Kevin Wakeford and Braam Botes.

20 points was the top score in Friday’s Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner. Cedric Bredenkamp claimed first spot in a count out from Henry van Aarde. Pieter Botes and Keith Brown followed on 19 points with Susan Alexander fifth on 18 points.

Wade King, page 4, name number 40, missed out on R1400 in the CTCS snowball draw on Friday evening.

Wedge Crozier (20), Dave Wilson (19) and Machiel Cronje (18) were the Thursday KWV Niner prize winners.

Joshua Edwards posted the best score in the Thursday Spur Junior challenge, 18 points. The runner up was Dean Schonegevel on 16 points, his gross 38 the best medal on the day.

Wednesday’s IPS competition sponsored by Leons House of Liquor saw three players return 41 points. The count out determined Stefan Le Roux first, Ronnie Engelbrecht second and Gavin van Zyl third.

This week the KGC hosts Konica Minolta Business League on Wednesday, the Spur Junior Challenge and the KWV Niner on Thursday and the Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner along with the CTCS snowball draw on Friday. On Saturday it is the penultimate round of the Engelsman Magabane Challenge. On Sunday it is the Sealing Solutions League.
