It was a particularly close finish, but, on Sunday afternoon Machiel Cronje once again claimed the 2015 NC Senior Society Championships along with Blacklaws Trophy. He posted an aggregate 165 (82, 83). Close behind was a fast approaching John Lankester who, on Sunday morning, returned a 38 on the front nine, followed by a 40 on the back nine for a remarkable 78 (a scintillating net 62) and an aggregate 166, just one shot in arrears.

Ronnie Engelbrecht received the Reg Ellis Trophy for the Best Net Overall, Fires van Vuuren the runner up.

Best gross and best net Saturday went to Cedric van der Ross and Angus Murray. Best gross and best net Sunday went to Daan Fourie and Harry Welham.

Saturday’s IPS Jackpot competition saw Kevin Wakeford and Marius Stols share the opening six on 15 points each. Adrian McLaren claimed the second six on an extraordinary 17 points that included a one pointer. Brenton Marthinus took the third six on 15 points. The first nine went to Kevin Wakeford on 22 points and the second nine was shared by Brenton Marthinus, Dowtie Jardine and Deon Klopper, each on 21 points. Each jackpot voucher was valued at R420.

Donald Whitebooi claimed the Friday Flamingo Casino Meat and Slots Niner on 19 points in a count out from Cedric van der Ross and Eddie Barkhuizen. Andries Kori and Flex Rantoa were fourth and fifth, each on 18 points.

The KWV Niner saw Braam Botes and Nico Ross first and second respectively, each on 19 points. Kabela Leburu was third on 18 points.

Dries du Plessis and Siewert Wiid claimed the Wednesday Annabell’s BBS on 42 points on account out from Barend Burger and Bennie Claasens. Gavin van Zyl and John O’Connell were third on 39 points.


This week the KGC hosts the Engen GWK Griqua Rugby Golf Day on Wednesday. On Thursday it is the Spur Junior Challenge and the KWV Niner. On Friday there is the Flamingo Casino Niner and the CTCS snowball draw. On Saturday it is the March monthly medal.
